Business Meeting 13 June 2019

The meeting was called to order at 19:05 EDT by President Tom Russell, KD9BVC.  The Pledge of Allegiance was said, followed by a moment of silence and roll call.

Guest speaker Chris Hansson spoke about the Community Emergency Response Team for Toms River Township.  This provides information on emergency response capabilities and skills through training sessions.

A first order of business was elections.  Only one candidate received nomination for each office (three candidates for the three trustee positions).  The one exception was for secretary, for which Brian Price, WA2FAX, withdrew after nominations were closed.  The table below summarized the nominations and subsequent election of officers:

Meeting minutes for May were read by Secretary Matt de Rouville, K3MR.  The following statement, “Two runs would cost $xxxxx”, was corrected to read “One run would cost $xxxxx”.  Approval was moved by Pete, K3PMC, and seconded by Bill, KD2MZM.

Treasurer Joe Russo, KD2NAY, gave the May treasurer’s report.  The report had Brian, WA2FAX moving approval, with a second by Bill, KD2MZM.  There was a need to spend additional funds, bringing the total to $xxx.  Pete, K3PMC, moved approving this expenditure, with a second from Brian, WA2FAX.

Charlie, N1CRR, presented the May report for the JSARS Traffic Net.

Approval was moved by Bill, KD2JBJ, and seconded by Brian, WA2FAX.

Old Business

Jim, WA2RJP, reported that antenna line for the Hooper Avenue water tower was paid in full.  All that was needed was for a bottom connector to be installed and the antenna system tested by the contractor.  It is uncertain when the repeater will be returned to the site, which will only host the W2DOR 146.91 MHz repeater.  The antenna will be no lower than it was before, although the exact elevation was uncertain.

Work had also been completed on the antenna at the temporary site, and Paul, WB2HHH, noted that it was operating at better than the manufacturer’s specifications.

Chris, K2HVE, discussed planning for Field Day.  We would set up beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, 22 June.  Pete, K3PMC, noted that Girl Scouts had been invited.

New Business

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser has been scheduled for Saturday, 27 July.  Cost would be $15.  Volunteers were solicited to help, and Chris, K2HVE; Pete, K3PMC; and Matt, K3MR offered their services.

President Tom, KD9BVC, noted we already had three candidates for the testing session the following Thursday.  He stressed that this month would be the final one for the current General test question pool and urged members who wanted to take the test to do it this month.

Brian, WA2FAX, reported on upcoming operating events on the coming weekend, including the West Virginia QSO Party and ARRL’s Kids’ Day.

Kurt, KD2RFY, moved that meeting be adjourned, which was seconded by Steve, AA2ST.  The meeting was adjourned at 20:07 EDT.  Total Attendance was 18.
